About Me

I am an experienced musician, researcher, workshop facilitator and writer, based in  Newcastle upon Tyne. I am interested in exploring how improvised models of music-making can provide alternative routes into music-making, for those with no prior musical training. While studying for my PhD in Music at Newcastle University, I developed a range of innovative methodologies for participatory action research, implemented in a variety of projects, that included working in schools, community centres and local venues.

Since completing my PhD, I have been working within the field of community music, on a number of freelance projects with a variety of diverse community groups. I recently delivered my first Arts Council-funded project: 'Wild Pop: Widening Access to Music' and I am excited about the outcomes of that project and the possibilities it brings for future projects.
